Village Forests: Khagrachari, March 13 (UNB) – Jabarang Kalyan Samity (RJC) will work to protect the 15 villages of Chittagong Hill Tracts (VCF) or Mausaban.
This has been stated in the Village Common Forest (VCF) or Mawazan Protection Project Reporting Workshop in Chittagong Hill Tracts.
The workshop was organized on Tuesday in the hall of the Khagrachari Hill District Council.
It is said in the workshop, due to climate change, global warming is causing deforestation every day. There are 69 species of birds, 27 species of animals, and 220 species of medicinal plants and shrubs in the forests of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. There are also 6 species of bamboo and 80 species of different forest species. But due to lack of protection the forests are being lost.
Workshop has been announced that the local development agency Jabarang Kalyan Samity will work for the protection of 15 VCF or mausoleum in the district under UNDP funding.
Chaired by the executive director of Kabidang Development Organization Lalasha Chakma, Khangrachari Hill District Council Chairman Kangjari Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the workshop.
Titu Khisa Executive Officer of the Hill District Council, Khagrachari Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Chanchu Moni Chakma, Executive Officer Shamsul Tabriz, UNDP representative Ushimong Chowdhury, Chakma Circle representative Sudtika Bikash Tanchangaa were present.
