The establishment of the Puthia Rajbari located in Rajshahi was in the Mughal period. The last heir to the Puthia dynasty was Maharani Hemantakumari Devi. He built the main palace in 1895.
After the construction, he dedicated the royal palace to the memory of the mother-in-law Saratasundari Devi. It is to be noted that, Shastasundari Devi married Raja Jogendra Narayan at the age of five and she was widowed after seven years of her marriage. Because he had no children, he adopted a son named Rajinikanth. Later, Rajinikanth got married to Hemantakumari Devi, known as ‘King Jatindranarayan’. Vidyashee Shratasundari Devi, whom Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar and Maharshi Debendranath Tagore had known as their daughter, died at 37 years of age.
After Hemant Kumar’s death, Puthia Rajbari lost his Joules because of the abolition of dynasties and zamindari system. But there are still some of them, which are currently undergoing renovation work.
This Shiva Temple is one of the attractions of Puthia Rajbari. If you go ahead in the van or auto on the Rajbari, this temple will be seen before the left side of the house. The queen, Bhubanmei Goddess, built it and then spent three lakh rupees. It takes about seven years to build it. It is one of the largest Shiva temples in this sub-continent.
There are huge dighis in front of the temple. You can see more than 5 large tigers in the entire Puthia Rajbari. There are two main stairs to enter the temple and to get to the back dive. The temple measuring 14.30 meters is built on a 4 meter high platform. The temple has an original peak and four small pinnacles around it. The length of the main pole is approximately 20 meters. In Hindu temples, the Hindu community still worshiped Lord Shiva.
In the temple of Lord Shiva you will see another small temple on the right hand, which is known as Rath or Jagannath Temple. Belongs to the threshold are made at the entrance. There is a spacious verandah inside. There are eight pillars around the verandah. It is a stacked structure, the upper chamber of the original structure is smaller in size. With the construction of the main Shiva temple, it was also assumed that the temple also built the Queen Bhubanmai Devi. However, the temple is currently abandoned.
In front of Shiva Temple, you will see another big white temple in front of you. It looks like whitish white. The temple of Lord Shiva is not built on a high platform. But the flat ground is about 20 meters high. The temple is very beautiful and the temple is gradually sloping upwards. That is, from the lower ground to the smallest, the third floor from the second floor is much smaller. In this way, deployment work has gone up.
An amazing thing in the construction of the temple is that there are plenty of entrances. There are 28 total entrances around the ground floor. The second, third and fourth floors have 20, 12 and 4 in total, with 64 total entrances. For such many entrance halls, Puthiyasis call this temple as ‘Hazdewari’.
However, it is astonishing that no worship is worshiped in this temple. There is no even people. Most of the gates are closed. It is known to the locals that Raja Bhavendra Narayan built this temple to play hide and seek with his minor wife. The structure of the temple and all the entrance passages can not be denied.
After moving from the temple to the swing a little ahead, after the huge field, Puthia Panchani Rajbari will be seen. This is also another main attraction after the temple of Lord Shiva. This double-decker building is built on 4.30 acres of land. It is rectangular in infrastructures. Bricks, shirts, iron, chun etc. have been used to construct the palace. There are two hangars to enter the main building. Wooden stairs are up for top. But most of the doors after the entrance door are closed by the stairs. This type of structure refers to the architectural style of Indo-European times.
Popular magazine show ‘etc’ set;
Today it is known as ‘Laskarpur Degree College’. It is heard from the villagers that the palace has rooms below the ground, in which earlier classes of college were also taken. It’s currently being risky because it is closed. There are also hidden, tunnels that are not allowed to enter. It has been said that the tunnel or the other side of the adjacent dighies has gone downstairs, so that they could easily escape if attacked. Although the question of authenticity of the question arises, it still feels good to accept these!
Puthia Panchayati There is an entrance gate in the middle of the Rajbari. You might be a bit annoyed when entering the broken wooden door. But after entering the beauty of the Govinda temple built by Narayana, your annoyance will erupt. Regular worship is worshiped here. People are good too. A priest is always seen in the temple.
There is a spacious house in the middle of the temple, where there is a Gobinda statue. There are four small rooms around it. There are 3 entrances on the verandah and 4 arched doors around the temple, while the main entrance is to the west. There are stairs to get upstairs. The walls of the temple are very beautiful
