Mongla Port is located in the southwestern Bangladesh of Bagerhat district. It is the second largest sea port in the country. It is located 48 kilometers south of Khulna city. The port was established on 1 December 1950.
It is located on the banks of river Pusu and Mongla in Selabonia mouza of Rampal upazila of Bagerhat district. It is located in the southwestern part of the country, at the junction of the river Pashur and Mongla Nala and about 71 nautical miles of the Bay of Bengal and connected to the main internal river ports and railway terminals in Khulna.
Because of increasing pressure on Chittagong’s largest sea port, many international ship companies have set up Mongla port as an alternative route.
